Objectives

The TWIN-IT-ROMANS project aims to enhance the excellence capacity of the widening country, Türkiye, in the field of robotic manufacturing. This will be achieved by fostering collaboration between Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) and internationally-leading counterparts at the EU level. The project is designed to address specific challenges and promote innovation in manufacturing systems through the following strategic objectives:

Objective 1: Improve Science & Technology (S&T) Capacity

  • Conducting a joint research project focusing on the development of a multitasking collaborative robot system for manufacturing.
  • Facilitating joint journal and conference publications, patent applications, and expert visits to enhance research capabilities and outcomes.

Objective 2: Strengthen IZTECH’s Research Profile

  • Increasing international mobility for researchers to foster global collaboration.
  • Organizing networking events and maintain an active presence through regular social media posts.
  • Enhancing research management capacities and administrative skills through dedicated meetings, summer schools, and demonstration events.

Objective 3: Promote Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs)

  • Supporting ESRs’ mobility in both academic and non-academic sectors to broaden their research exposure.
  • Conducting workshops and summer schools to strengthen skills and knowledge.

Objective 4: Promote Gender Equality and Diversity

  • Increasing the representation of women researchers within IZTECH’s project group.
  • Promoting gender diversity among ESRs and support international PhDs in joining the research team.
  • Encouraging gender balance within administrative roles to ensure inclusive development.

Through these objectives, the TWIN-IT-ROMANS project seeks to foster innovation, strengthen research capacities, and promote inclusivity, ultimately contributing to the advancement of robotic manufacturing systems and reducing the research and innovation gap between Türkiye and the European Union.
